Artist Statement
Finding Treasure (on going series)
Finding Treasure is an ongoing series of lumen prints created during the pandemic. The natural subject matter was gathered from the neighborhood as well our own garden. The studio itself is the backyard with its abundance of light; a blessing living in Arizona.
As the stay at home orders and working from home became the norm, time seemed to stand still, a sense of anxiety and overwhelm crept in as life as I knew it suddenly ended. Finding a way to lighten my mood and occupy my time became the challenge to be more creative.
Lumen prints provided the opportunity, with the simplicity of photographic paper and exposing it in the sun was a way to explore and broaden the my creative juices. Finding the right natural flora was like a treasure hunt just out the back door. Each resulting image is a jewel from the treasure box.
